Grosse Pointe Hockey Assc.
Thank you Coach Keller for the many years you have dedicated to youth hockey.
On Wednesday, March 14th, the 97s played in their last home scrimmage. Despite missing four players, the Bulldogs brought their "A" game and dominated the Redford Kings. Final score was 11 to 4 -- a great way to close out the season.
Highlights of this Bantam AA squad included a 16 game win / tie streak through November and December. The team won the Firebolt Tourney and were finalists in the Motown Cup and semi-finalists in the Steel City Tourney. The Bulldogs battled for first place in their Howe Division up until their final league game; ultimately landing in the middle with their competitors separated only by a win or tie. Proudly, the Bulldogs lead the division in total goals scored with 56.
Good competitive hockey was played, friendships were formed (including international ones with the Russian Red Army players), team work, character, sportsmanship and winning and losing with class was always reinforced.
Thank you Coaches Keller and McIntryre. What an honor it has been for our young men to skate for coaches truly dedicated to youth hockey.
The Bulldogs celebrate their 2 - 1 win over the Dayton Knights to capture the Firebolt Tourney Championshp December 4th.
